The principle research area that she is searching is about Peace Education, and the specific topic is about Peace Education trough Holistic Peace.     • - Descripción de la situación (categoría) profesional: En la actualidad estoy al frente de la Asociación Arcadia, que fundamos en 2013. Arcadia es un espacio de respeto a naturaleza y toda su biodiversidad. Entre otros fines, cuenta con un refugio de animales procedentes de maltrato o abandono. Además de asegurar el bienestar de estos animales, trasmite a través de sus acciones valores como el respeto, la superación y la necesidad de vivir en paz. - Descripción breve del perfil investigador (principales líneas o línea, aportaciones, ...): La vida en el campo es un continuo aprendizaje. Además de participar en la construcción de una vivienda de bioconstrucción, están profundizando en el conocimiento y uso de las plantas autóctonas, en la recuperación de fuentes y canalizaciones de agua, en la recuperación de oficios tradicionales, en el conocimiento de los animales que integran el refugio y la fauna autóctona… - Descripción del perfil docente (tipo y calidad de docencia): El tipo de docencia que pretenden impartir es basada en una visión práctica. Es decir, trasladar a los alumnos la experiencia de vida en el campo. Desde una visión conservacionista, la vida en el campo permite observar las diferentes formas de relación y simbiosis. Además, la intención de los responsables de Arcadia es transmitir la idea y ofrecer soluciones para poder vivir en la montaña de una manera económicamente sostenible y de manera respetuosa con la naturaleza. - Aspectos relativos a actividades profesionales (si hay). De los conocimientos adquiridos en la universidad y la experiencia en los medios de comunicación he pulido la capacidad de transmitir. Y, por otra parte, los años que llevo viviendo en la montaña me han servido para acumular experiencias suficientes para mostrar con cierto conocimiento de causa lo que significa la vida en el campo. - Otros aspectos que se quieran destacar: Mi docencia es eminentemente práctica, incluyendo la experiencia en el refugio de animales y en la casa de bioconstrucción, en Llucena. En este escenario, el estudiantado podrá descubrir el modelo de vida que pretende exportar Arcadia: Una vida lo más respetuosa posible con el medio ambiente, integrada y muy relacionada con la naturaleza y con un proyecto económico viable que pueda sustentar este tipo de vida. Este modelo de vida puede aplicarse en cualquier zona geográfica o país.

My teaching is theoretical, and research to practice oriented. I place the debate into a theoretical framework, I present past and present research, and I provide tools for practice. My teaching is interactive whenever possible. I normally teach classes with 400 or 500 students in which the interaction is minimum. In all my other classes the debate goes both ways, students contest my teaching and I react to students’ comments with more theory, research or tools for action. I use combinations of ppts, formal and informal debates and discussions, and I strongly encourage active participation in my classes. In an average class, every single student must actively participate in enriching their peers learning experience. We all, students and myself, make the class together. - Aspects related to professional activities (if any) -Service-Learning. I’ve created several service-learning programs for students to practice what they learn in my classes. -I created the NGO “Nikumbuke-Health by Motorbike” to generate a grassroots movement pushed by undregrad and grad students along with local women and girls from isolated villages in Kenya. - Other aspects you would like to highlight I have received 10 Teaching Awards at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

    • Master: International Master’s Degree in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies Professor: Blanca Camps-Febrer Date: 20th of February, 2019 - Description of the professional situation (category) I am currently a Doctoral Fellow at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I hold a scholarship (Ref. BES-2017-080049) within the framework of the R+D Project “Transnational Dynamics and Actors in the MENA Region: A historical Genealogy of Elites and Social Movements in between the local and global levels”, directed by Dr. Laura Feliu Martínez and Dr. Ferran Izquierdo Brichs. (Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; State Agency for Research (AEI) and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)) (HAR2016-77876-P). - Brief description of the research profile (main research lines or line, contributions, ...) My main research lines deal with the security sector and human rights in the Mediterranean Region, especially in the Middle East and North Africa. I have worked and published on issues related with the Security Sector and its Reform; tranisitional justice; popular uprisings; Foreign Policy Analysis; militarism and militarization in the North of Africa; Armed conflicts; feminist security studies; and business and human rights in contexts of military occupation. See my CV for a list of my publications. - Description of the teaching profile (type and quality of teaching) I have been teaching in the capacity of Associate Professor at Graduate level and at post-graduate level at Blanquerna – Ramón Llull University and at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.     • BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE (approximate length of 1500 characters) Master: International Master’s Degree in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies Professor: .................Orla Patricia de Diez....................... - Description of the professional situation (category) Current affiliations: Researcher at the Institute of Sustainable Tourism and Economic Development, TIDES at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC); member of Stanford University Peace Innovation Lab Network exploring how persuasive technology can be used to gently nudge people from poor levels of engagement or negative interaction to quality collaboration across and beyond densely populated shantytowns affected by youth gang violence in Bolivia. Previously, at Club de Madrid, a forum of former heads of state and government, she led projects on (i) political reforms consultation in Ecuador; (ii) constitution building in Bolivia; and (iii) forging and scaling new ways for grassroots women to leverage their differences and converge their constituencies to influence national, regional and global policy on peace and security in the Greater Horn of Africa. Past research experience includes acclaimed simulation-based exploration with real stakeholders into the potential strengths and pitfalls of re-writing the Bolivian constitution. The aim was to study the interpersonal dynamics between opposing sets of political, geographical, cultural and social interests for reform, in a simulated environment. Several mock delegates went on to run successfully for seats in the real Assembly (2006-2007). She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Bolivian Catholic University (Harvard institute for International Development) and a Bachelors degree in History and Geography from Complutense University of Madrid. - Brief description of the research profile (main research lines or line, contributions, ...) For the past 7 years, she has focused on team learning behaviours that enable and speed up large-scale, systemic innovation, with particular R+D emphasis on social learning software for changing organisational culture. - Description of the teaching profile (type and quality of teaching) Created practice-based Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies module—focussed on violent extremism; with two distinct layers of learning. 1) Students learn how systems thinking, human-centred design, and persuasive technology can be used together to discern, design and mobilise more effectively for complex systems that are shaping the lives and decisions of people at risk of committing to violence. 2) Students learn how to develop team intelligence from the experience of untangling and addressing extremism. Through reflective practice, they develop deeper awareness about how their own behaviours and group interactions encourage or inhibit flow of information and ideas into systemic understanding and impact.

Much of my research has been on the impact of state-sponsored development, capitalism and modernity on Indigenous communities, particularly the Orang Asli (Malaysian Aborigines). Drawing from this research, I have published numerous papers and three books (Malaysia and the "Original People", with R. Dentan, K. Endicott, and B. Hooker; Looking for Money; and Modernity and Malaysia: Settling the Menraq Forest Nomads). I have also published work on cultural politics in Malaysia (such as the edited book Multiethnic Malaysia, with Lim Teck Ghee and Azly Rahman) and in Goa, India. In the last five years, my publication projects have focused on what we can learn from Indigenous peoples and their epistemologies rather than merely learning about them. Related to this are my current projects on (1) the nexus between equality (or egalitarianism), sustainability, and peace and (2) Indigenous forms of conflict transformation, dialogue and empathetic engagement. I am also working on two books, one on Malaysia tentatively entitled Culture Matters in Malaysia and the other (with Michalis Michael) on the art and craft of dialogue. - Description of the teaching profile (type and quality of teaching) For the past twenty five years, I have taught introductory anthropology at La Trobe University. I have received several teaching awards, including a national citation for teaching excellence. Además de participar en la construcción de una vivienda de bioconstrucción, están profundizando en el conocimiento y uso de las plantas autóctonas, en la recuperación de fuentes y canalizaciones de agua, en la recuperación de oficios tradicionales, en el conocimiento de los animales que integran el refugio y la fauna autóctona… - Descripción del perfil docente (tipo y calidad de docencia): El tipo de docencia que pretenden impartir es basada en una visión práctica. Es decir, trasladar a los alumnos la experiencia de vida en el campo. Desde una visión conservacionista, la vida en el campo permite observar las diferentes formas de relación y simbiosis. Además, la intención de los responsables de Arcadia es transmitir la idea y ofrecer soluciones para poder vivir en la montaña de una manera económicamente sostenible y de manera respetuosa con la naturaleza. - Aspectos relativos a actividades profesionales (si hay). De los conocimientos adquiridos en la universidad y la experiencia en los medios de comunicación he pulido la capacidad de transmitir. Y, por otra parte, los años que llevo viviendo en la montaña me han servido para acumular experiencias suficientes para mostrar con cierto conocimiento de causa lo que significa la vida en el campo. - Otros aspectos que se quieran destacar: Mi docencia es eminentemente práctica, incluyendo la experiencia en el refugio de animales y en la casa de bioconstrucción, en Llucena.     • - Description of the professional situation (category) I am a Member on the board of directors of Gernika Gogoratuz International Peace Research Centre, and a guest professor for the professional line of the Master’s Degree in Peace, Conflict and Development Studies. - Brief description of the research profile (main research lines or line, contributions, ...) I have worked for many years in international cooperation with projects to promote peace from the grassroots, working with local communities supporting their projects. Currently however I am more dedicated to researching the role of memory in promoting peace both locally and in a broader context nationally and internationally. This line of research is the fruit of over 10 years collaboration with the different organisations that work with memory in the town of Gernika (the unfortunate subject of Picasso’s famous painting Guernica), Gernika Gogoratuz, Gernika Peace Museum and Gernika Zarra, as well as the local community through the Culture House. My work in this area has led me to participate in numerous collaborations and projects around Europe, along with several in Colombia and Guatemala, all dedicated to the promoting peace through communication, interaction, art and culture. The said, perhaps my biggest contribution to date was my role as administrator and researcher for the Gernika case study of the European research project CRIC: Conflict and Identity (FP7-SSH-2007-1 Histories and Identities: Articulating national and European identities) coordinated by the University of Cambridge with partners in seven European Countries and case studies in five countries Cyprus, France, Germany, Bosnia and Spain. - Description of the teaching profile (type and quality of teaching) I see myself as a facilitator, who strongly believes in student participation. This is because project management is normally a team exercise and it requires a hand on approach. Therefore all classes are combined with practical case study work in teams. Students are presented with theory and tools that they later get to discuss and apply in the case studies thereby providing them with further insight into the strengths and weaknesses of project management. - Aspects related to professional activities (if any) While I have many years’ experience in the world of NGOs, I also work in the private sector and I consider myself fortunate to be able to dedicate my efforts in both sectors to the promotion of communication, social interaction, culture and art and therefore peace. That said however, I also believe that the fact that I was myself a student of the Master my experience helps the students to get beyond the class room and out into the real world, where peace, conflict and development are very serious and complicated issues. - Other aspects you would like to highlight I have been resident in Spain for over a decade and currently reside in Castellón de la Plana, where I have established a home with my family. As a result and given that I am a native English speaker I have over the years become a translator working on everything from subtitling for theatre, internet and films as well a translating academic and literary texts.

Omar (Smara, en el entonces Sahara Español, 1970) es licenciado en «Crítica y Literatura Dramática» por el Instituto Superior de Arte Dramático de Damasco (Siria), y tiene Máster y Doctorado Europeo (con premio extraordinario de doctorado) en «Estudios de Paz y Conflictos» de la Universitat Jaume I (UJI) de Castellón (España). Desde 1996, trabaja para el Ministerio de Exteriores de la República Saharaui (RASD) y ha ocupado varios puestos diplomáticos en África, Asia y Europa. En la actualidad, es Embajador de la RASD en Etiopia y Representante Permanente ante la Unión Africana en Addis Ababa. Es también investigador y profesor visitante de la Cátedra UNESCO de Filosofía para la Paz de la UJI, en cuyo marco ha impartido varios cursos en el Máster Internacional en Estudios de Paz, Conflictos y Desarrollo sobre temas relacionados con los estudios post-coloniales y culturales y los estudios de paz, conflictos y desarrollo así como la metodología y técnicas de investigación. Dr. Sidi Omar tiene varias publicaciones tanto en inglés como en castellano. Date: .....16..........of .....June.............. , 2015 - Description of the professional situation (category) - Currently I serve as a full time professor in the Asian Studies Program, Kansai Gaidai University, Osaka, Japan. I also teach an on-line course centered on democracy and development for the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, the Graduate School at the University of Sydney. At Sydney I also formally advise Ph.D. students. - I also teach on-line courses for Transcend Peace University. These courses have dealt with ICTs and democracy, contending theories in International relations, conflict mediation, and democracy and development. - Professionally I seek to combine my academic work with grass roots fieldwork and advocacy. I serve on advisory boards of NGO’s in both Asia and Africa. Furthermore, I have served as an election observor in Pakistan, Cambodia, and Malaysia and headed an election study mission to Singapore. I have been asked to take part in peace mediation missions to Timor Leste, Mindanao and Sulu. Most recently,as a founding memebr of the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) in Mutare, Zimbabwe we have been working on monitoring the mining industry (gold and diaminds). This research has resulted in two detailed reports. CRD was instrumental in reporting to the Kimberely Process monitors which resulted in the temporary suspension of the sale of Zimbabwe diamonds. - Brief description of the research profile (main research lines or line, contributions, ...) My main lines of research center on conflcit resolution and peace building. As an election monitor in Cambodia I have witnessed first hand not democratization but rather electionism. In countless village meetings in Pakistan and Afghanistan I have listened to people talk clearly and sincerely about what is wrong and how to fix it. The genuine dedication of courageous members of civil society in the face of violence and threats is certainly a focus which needs suport and understanding. Those who make facile statements that Islam and democracy are not compatible should first look at women activists and NGO’s in states which are in crisis - Description of the teaching profile (type and quality of teaching) - All of my courses have four components: the instructor, the students, the readings and discussions, and finally analytical problem solving. Conflict mapping is a vital and critical skill which is especially overlooked by government decision-makers who miss the multilayered dimensions. As a peace studies course, we are NOT tasked with “managing the conflict” but rather in seeking ways to resolve it. Case studies are always critical, For exemple one cannot examine R2P without going back to the preventable genocide of Rwanda and then moving to the first operationalized R2P mission in Libya. As an instructor I would ask whether students in the class would have voted (at the time) for the two UN resolutions on Libya. - As someone who acts as a translator for Japanese atomic bomb survivors a central question to ask is: why were the bombs dropped? In this regard, I am particularly interested in leadership, the decision-making process (information loops) and imaging in war. - Aspects related to professional activities (if any) - My Ph.D. is in history (modern China and Japan) but I also have an M.A. in political science (comparative political analysis and International relations. Desarrollo actividades de formación de profesorado en paz y filosofía y desarrollo proyectos de cultura de paz en colegios públicos, privados y/o centros culturales. - Descripción breve del perfil investigador (principales líneas o línea, aportaciones, ...) Durante los últimos años me he dedicado a la propuesta política de construcción de paz que tienen las resistencias indígenas, sobre la que he desarrollado mi tesis doctoral. Su perspectiva me acercó a la filosofía para niños para facilitar a niños y adultos las herramientas de pensamiento que fundamentan la construcción de una sociedad más justa y armónica Actualmente desarrollo diversas actividades enfocadas a la cultura de paz pues considero necesario para el quehacer filosófico las experiencias prácticas. - Descripción del perfil docente (tipo y calidad de docencia) Mi metodología de se fundamente en términos generales en la metodología de Filosofía para Niños. Se prioriza el dialogo, el cuestionamiento como enseñanza (mayéutica socrática) y el juego.
